THE DEAD DOLPHIN (2025)

(Stop-Motion Animation Short Film)
Technical Data: Drawings and stop-motion on cardboard, inks, and watercolors on discarded paper.

This short film investigates the fragile boundary between the real and the unreal, and how the unreal manifests as truth in moments of crisis.
The work depicts the final delirium of a mediocre accountant who, on the verge of death, constructs a parallel narrative as a private detective searching for his own wife. This hallucination serves as the cultural construct that ultimately gives meaning to his life.
The animation technique using drawings on discarded cardboard and assembled box sets is a direct response to the LUBICA26 theme. It demonstrates that the protagonist's alternate reality is a fragile, assembled construction, where illusion and truth are fabricated from the material residue of our real lives. The stop-motion exposes the cracks in perception within a paper universe.
