OFELIA A LA DERIVA / OFELIA ADRIFT
(WORK IN PROGRESS)
The body as a surface of transit, and waste as a new territory.
I present the current status (WIP) of a new piece that continues my exploration of the Ophelia myth, but this time, taking her off the traditional canvas.
This assemblage exercise on corrugated packaging cardboard (a "skin" of waste) seeks to re-signify the forgotten. The female body here does not succumb but floats; it becomes a map of lines and pigment that dialogues with the barcodes and shipping labels printed on the support.
The figure integrates into the water's flow (the paint), while the instability of the foldable cardboard reaffirms the thesis that beauty, memory, and the body are in a constant state of Corporeal Flux.
Dimensions: 45 x 68 cm approx. (unfolded) Medium: Assemblage, Acrylic, Charcoal, and Pastel on Cardboard Waste. 2025
